Volunteer Spotlight: Tomahawk Middle School
Karen Colly and her students from Tomahawk Middle School come to volunteer at RMHC once a month. Volunteering at RMHC provides her students with an opportunity for them to serve in their community in a unique way. They learn to work as a team while making lunches for RMHC of Richmond to deliver to local hospitals.
When Karen spoke with her middle school class about picking an agency to volunteer with, RMHC naturally came to mind because a few of the students have been affected by serious illnesses in the past. These sleeping students really understand what the families staying at RMHC go through, as well as the families at the hospital who benefit from the lunch program.
She and her students are so excited and grateful to have the opportunity to give back to their community in such a personal way. She says the volunteer opportunity has also provided her students with the ability to think about others more often and gain practical life skills. A big thank you to Tomahawk Middle School for their continued support every month!
