Volunteer Spotlight: Sibling Center!
At the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond, we are dedicated to supporting families who have a child receiving medical care in the Richmond area. One way we support our families is through our Sibling Center program. Through a partnership with VCU Health and the Children Development Center, The Sibling Center is located in the Children’s Pavilion at VCU. Families are able to check the well sibling into The Sibling Center so they can focus on the appointment for the patient. This is just one way that we work to support and relieve stress for our families. However, as for most of our programs at RMHC, none of this could be done without the compassion and dedication from our Sibling Center volunteers. These volunteers work hard day in and day out to ensure the center is running smoothly and that every sibling is taken care of.
One of our Sibling Center Volunteers, Lisa Ayers, describes The Sibling Center as a “very nice place for the siblings to take their mind off the seriousness that some of them are dealing with in their own families. This lets them be the focus and gives them time to be on their own away from all their family members which may help reduce the stress.”
We are so grateful to our volunteers at the Sibling Center who help us fulfill our mission of supporting families who have a child receiving medical care in Richmond.
