Pop Top Challenge

River Klammer and Danny Arel made a huge impact to help keep families close at RMHC Richmond this year. River and Danny began an independent project at Bon Air Elementary School this past school year with a mission to collect three pounds of pop-top tabs to donate to RMHC Richmond. They far surpassed their goal by collecting a grand total of 31.4 pounds!

The boys’ idea to collect pop-tops was inspired by Danny’s aunt, who also collects and donates them. It inspired him to begin his own collection, on a much larger scale. Together, River and Danny presented their idea to their school principal and asked if they could put collection boxes around the school so that their peers may also participate.

Now that the school year has come to a close and the boys are rising fifth graders, they have decided to pass their project on to three rising-second grade students (including Danny’s sister!) who will continue this new tradition forward. We are so thankful for the support and awareness that River and Danny have raised for RMHC Richmond and look forward to seeing their pop top collection numbers grow!
