Thank you, BB&T

Throughout the month of May, BB&T Corporation encouraged community involvement among their employees through volunteer efforts. RMHC of Richmond was grateful to have the support from two different departments within the BB&T Corporation, Capital Markets and Commercial Banking, who united in sharing one remarkable goal this May: improving the health and well-being of children and families.

Sixteen employees from BB&T’s Capital Markets division prepared over 60 lunches for families in the pediatric units at St. Mary’s Hospital and the NICU at VCU Health. Lunch bags were packed with sandwiches, fruit, granola bars, cookies, bottled waters and fruit juice. These nutritious lunches saved families from relying on limited yet costly fresh food options at hospital facilities. Additionally, the group used a large portion of their funds to purchase essential items including a cot, vacuum, and pillows for the house.

BB&T’s Commercial Banking department’s 20 volunteers spent over 50 hours supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities by painting outdoor furniture, creating summer-themed wreaths for all nine bedrooms in the house, baking cookies, making lunches, and ‘grab-and- go’ bags for families to bring with them to hospital facilities. Furthermore, the group packaged snack packs to be handed out at the Ronald McDonald House Sibling Center and charitably covered the cost of steam cleaning treatment for the basement.

In order to fulfill daily needs at the house and support in hospital programs within pediatric units at local hospitals, RMHC of Richmond relies heavily on generous organizations like BB&T Corporation. RMHC of Richmond would not be able to improve the health and well-being of children and families without extraordinary support like BB&T Corporation offered this month. Thank you BB&T for all of your hard work and dedication to help RMHC of Richmond keep families close!
