Volunteer
- How you can Help us Help our Families

Volunteers at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond are vital members of our family, our community, and our home. We are always looking for new, energetic volunteers and welcome creative volunteering ideas.
To sign up as a volunteer, please complete the online volunteer application. Once we receive your application, a House staff member will be in touch to discuss upcoming volunteer opportunities. For questions regarding volunteer activities at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond, please contact Sarah Erickson at sarah@rmhc-richmond.org.
Volunteer Types:
House Volunteer: These individuals take weekly or bi-weekly two or four hour shifts. We ask that our House Volunteers make a one year commitment to the House because of the amount of training that goes into this role. These volunteers answer phones, transport families, clean rooms and common areas, assist with mailings, and coordinate activities with families. All House Volunteers must be 18 or older.
Special Projects Volunteer: These volunteers may select a specific day and time to visit the House to help with our ongoing list of projects. These may include cleaning the kitchen, working in the garden, organizing the playroom, or stocking the pantry. Special projects volunteers may also be called on to help with community events and House fundraisers. All special projects volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Group Volunteers: We welcome the energy of corporate groups, civic organizations, and school groups. Volunteer opportunities may including cleaning, gardening, or craft and entertainment activities. If you have a large group, consider scheduling multiple dates to volunteer so that everyone has an opportunity to contribute.
